Truck Driver Wins $50,000 in Powerball

STRAFFORD, Mo. — A truck driver celebrated a $50,000 win after buying a Powerball ticket during a stop in Strafford on April 7.

Lottery Details

According to the Missouri Lottery, the trucker won this amount at the Travel Center of America through a Double Play drawing. In this format, players can re-use their chosen numbers from the main Powerball drawing in a subsequent drawing for additional prizes that can reach up to $10 million.

Winning Habits

“I like to buy a ticket as I travel through different states,” the winner mentioned. “I’ve had a few smaller wins that covered dinner, but nothing compares to this!”

Sharing the Good News

Upon learning of his win, the trucker called his son and daughter-in-law to share the exciting news. He noted that his son was initially skeptical.

A Proof of Win

“I sent a photo of the Lottery bag I received when I claimed my prize. My son joked, ‘You’re really playing it up this time!’,” the winner recounted.

Lottery Contributions to Education

As reported by the Missouri Lottery, Greene County players have collectively won over $49.4 million in lottery prizes, with more than $19.1 million in proceeds earmarked for educational programs in the region.
