Growing Appeal of Hybrid Vehicles

New emissions regulations, environmental issues, and increasing fuel prices are making hybrid vehicles more appealing to a variety of businesses. The Work Truck Show 2008, alongside the 44th Annual National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Convention, offers a platform for industry professionals to explore the latest advances in hybrid and alternative fuel technologies, assess the suitability of hybrid vehicles for their operations, and even test drive current hybrid commercial vehicles.

Event Details

The Work Truck Show 2008 will be held from February 26-28, 2008, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, with the convention and educational sessions commencing on February 25.

Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

Jim Carney, executive director of NTEA, noted, “Everyone in the work truck sector has a unique opportunity to collaborate in developing and applying technologies that will lead us toward a future with significantly lower fuel consumption and emissions.”

#### Hybrid Truck and Alternative Fuels Summit

The event will kick off with a full-day “Hybrid Truck and Alternative Fuels Summit” on Monday, February 25, running from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to the overwhelming success of the Summit at The Work Truck Show 2007, which was sold out, NTEA is reinstating the program to provide technology updates and guidance on integrating hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles into fleets. Industry experts will also discuss how to justify the costs associated with purchasing these vehicles. A separate ticket is needed for this Special Session.

##### Test Drives and Technology Displays

During the show on February 26 and 27, attendees will have the opportunity to test drive the latest commercially viable hybrid vehicles via the popular Hybrid Ride-and-Drive. This year’s extended course will simulate real-world conditions on city streets. Participation is included with trade show registration, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

###### Advanced Truck Technology Pavilion

Additionally, an array of commercially viable hybrid and alternative fuel trucks, electric technologies, and Telematics will be showcased in the Advanced Truck Technology Pavilion for three days starting February 26. Visitors can explore exhibits from hybrid truck manufacturers, chassis makers, system integrators, and various industry organizations.

###### Registration Information

The Hybrid Ride-and-Drive and Advanced Truck Technology Pavilion are sponsored by Eaton Hybrid Power Systems. The Work Truck Show, produced annually by NTEA, is North America’s largest work truck exhibition, uniting vocational truck fleet managers and other industry professionals with manufacturers, distributors, and dealers.
