Encouraging Young Girls in Trucking Careers

DE PERE, Wis. — The “Trucks Are for Girls” initiative is set to inspire young girls to explore career paths in the trucking industry and STEM fields. This event aims to cultivate curiosity while ensuring participants understand the importance of safety and responsibility around large trucks.

Commitment to Gender Diversity

“This outstanding event unites key organizations to present Girl Scouts with the trucking industry’s vibrant career opportunities and the STEM fields,” stated Missy Brozek, director of Girl Scouts of Northwestern Great Lakes (GSNWGL) Neenah-Menasha Brand & Communications. “This collaboration underscores these organizations’ dedication to promoting gender diversity and inclusivity in fields that have historically been male-dominated.”

Event Details and Sponsors

The event is backed by the Girl Scouts, Women in Trucking (WIT), Michelin North America, Inc., and Paper Transport. It offers several ways for young girls to engage and learn, including:

Hands-On Learning Opportunities

Participants will take part in interactive activities relating to the supply chain, granting them valuable insights into the industry’s inner workings.

Inspiration from Industry Leaders

Female leaders from the trucking sector will share their personal journeys, challenges, and achievements, motivating young girls to envision themselves as future leaders in these fields.

Exploration and Recognition

Girls will have the chance to explore the interiors of trucks, experiencing the vehicles that facilitate global commerce firsthand. Additionally, Paper Transport will award Girl Scouts STEM badges, allowing participants to recognize their skills and accomplishments.

Event Logistics

The event, exclusive to registered Girl Scouts, will take place on September 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Paper Transport, located at 1250 Mid Valley Drive, De Pere, Wisconsin, 54115. Furthermore, Michelin will provide a Women in Trucking Fun Patch and meals for all attendees.
